Great Chart on Employment Rate... Not the Unemployment Rate

Civilian Employment-Population Ratio (EMRATIO), via St Louis Fed http://research.stlouisfed.org/fred2/graph/?chart_type=line&width=1000&height=600&preserve_ratio=true&s[1][id]=EMRATIO

One factor that needs to be considered is the impact of boomers entering retirement.  It is VERY unlikely that accounts for the majority of the drop, but it does have an impact.

Maybe but the chart also shows that this ratio dropped significantly in nearly every economic downturn. I think boomers heading into retirement doesn't have a significant impact on this ratio, especially given the fact that more an more are actually delaying retirement.
